Bridges

friendly dentist NorwoodBridges offer a way to mask the appearance of missing teeth by joining two adjacent teeth with a false tooth. They can also help repair a cracked or chipped tooth by covering the area with a crown. Bridges are often a less invasive option than implants.

Crowns

A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that covers damaged teeth to restore their shape, size and strength. They can also be used for cosmetic reasons.

There are different types of crowns that your dentist will discuss with you. Metal crowns are usually the most durable and cost-effective. However, they can show a dark line next to the gums. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are more natural-looking but can also wear down.

‘Porcelain-fused-to-metal’ (PFM) crowns have an aluminium oxide core which is custom milled on a CAD/CAM machine, and then feldspathic porcelain stacked in a superficial outer layer to give the crown more translucent and lifelike aesthetic properties. VC Dental uses Procera and Empress PFM crowns.

These are fabricated in our dental laboratory. ‘Monolithic’ CAD/CAM machine-produced crowns use only a single uniform block of zirconia to make the whole crown and, therefore, tend not to have as good colour match or optical qualities. VC Dental uses Emax crowns, which are fabricated in our laboratory.

Fillings

Whether tooth decay, chipped teeth or an injury, fillings can repair the damage and restore your natural dental structure. Our dentists prefer using tooth-coloured composite resin rather than metal inlays and crowns, which look better and fuse seamlessly with your natural dental structure to support it longer.

Before placing your new filling, we will carefully remove the damaged tissue, clean the area and prepare it for restoration. Then, we will precisely place your filling, polish it, and meticulously check the bite to ensure optimal comfort and function.

Dental Implants

Implants are the best restorative solution for missing teeth, simulating natural tooth structure’s look, feel, and function.

Dental implants are more successful than other tooth replacement options, especially when well-planned and adequately cared for. With good oral hygiene and routine visits, implants can last a lifetime.

A dental implant comprises a titanium post, a connector (abutment), and a crown. We create a model of your bite and teeth to determine the location of each implant. Then, we make a replacement tooth or teeth based on the model and place it on the abutment.

If you live in the Norwood area, you have several choices for your dental care. A dentist, Norwood, can provide various services, including emergency after-hours care. In addition, dentists can treat most common dental issues, such as fillings and root canals. However, you may need to visit a specialist for other treatments.

Orthodontists are licensed dentists who specialize in improving flaws in the teeth and bite. They can help patients with crooked or overcrowded teeth and address the most severe over- or underbites.
